Privacy Policy

Moonlight Cinema (Moonlight) respects the privacy of your personal information. Moonlight is subject to the National Privacy Principals (NPPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The following Privacy Policy explains how Moonlight manages and protects the privacy your personal information under the NPPs.

What is personal information?
Personal information is any information or an opinion, whether true or not, which identifies an individual. When personal information concerns certain matters it is considered sensitive information. Sensitive information is information or opinion about an individual’s:

• racial or ethnic origin;
• political opinions;
• membership of a political association;
• religious beliefs, affiliations or philosophical beliefs;
• membership of a professional or trade association or membership of a trade union;
• sexual preferences or practices;
• criminal record;
• health or disability.

Information that is exempt 
Personal information relating to the employment relationship between Moonlight and its current or former employees is exempt from the Privacy Act.

How Moonlight collects personal information
Generally, Moonlight will collect personal information directly from you, when you:

• deal with Moonlight by telephone, fax, letter or email;
• purchase tickets via the Moonlight website.

The type of personal information that Moonlight collects depends on the circumstances of collection and on the type of service you request from Moonlight. Moonlight usually collects information such as your name, address, contact number, email address and credit card details. Moonlight does not usually collect sensitive information and would only collect sensitive information with your consent. On occasions Moonlight may collect personal information about you from someone else. For example, Moonlight may collect personal information from:

What happens if an individual does not provide personal information 
If you do not provide the personal information Moonlight requests, Moonlight may not be able to provide you with the relevant products or services.

Moonlight may disclose personal information 
Moonlight may disclose your personal information for the purpose which was either specified or reasonably apparent at the time when the information was collected. Depending on the circumstances, Moonlight may disclose personal information to:

• its service providers and specialist advisers;
• sponsors of Moonlight events;
• its insurers;
• any person with a lawful entitlement to obtain the information.

If Moonlight engages a third party contractor to perform services which involves handling personal information, Moonlight requires the contractor to comply with the National Privacy Principles. Moonlight also takes reasonable steps to prohibit the contractor from using personal, information, except for the purposes for which it was supplied.

Direct marketing and privacy 
From time to time Moonlight may use the personal information it collects about you to identify particular products and services which it believes may be of interest and benefit to you. Moonlight may then contact you to let you know about these products and services and how they may benefit you.

If you do not want to receive any of this information, you should contact Moonlight immediately. If you have registered to receive email newsletters from Moonlight and later change your mind, you will be given the choice to unsubscribe on every email you receive.

Accuracy of your personal information 
If Moonlight has accurate personal information about you, it enables Moonlight to provide the best possible service. Moonlight takes reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information Moonlight collects, uses and discloses is accurate, complete and up to date. Please advise Moonlight as soon as possible if the personal information held is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Moonlight will take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is corrected.

Security of personal information
Moonlight protects personal information from loss, misuse, modification and disclosure. Moonlight uses industry standard safeguards to ensure the security of personal information through physical, electronic and managerial procedures.

When Moonlight no longer requires personal information, Moonlight securely destroys the information and deletes it from its systems.

Access to personal information 
You may request access to any of the personal information Moonlight holds about you. Moonlight will, on written request, provide you with access to the personal information Moonlights hold about you, unless there is an exemption which applies under the Privacy Act.

Your request for access will be dealt with in a reasonable time. Moonlight may charge you a fee to cover the reasonable cost of retrieval and the supply of the information to you.

If Moonlight refuses your request for access, it will provide you with reasons for the refusal.

Transferring personal information overseas 
Moonlight does not transfer your personal information overseas unless Moonlight is authorised by law to do so or you have consented to it as part of the services Moonlight provides to you.

Information provided using the moonlight website
The Moonlight website does not use ‘cookies.’ The website does not collect personal information about people who access the site except where personal information is voluntarily supplied. Moonlight may collect information about the users of its website collectively, such as information about what areas users visit most frequently. This information is used to improve the website and the services Moonlight provides.
